2024 GivingTuesday and Annual Campaign

Dear Friends of the Village,

While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the biggest shopping days of the year, GivingTuesday on December 3rd marks something greater - the world’s largest generosity movement. GivingTuesday puts a spotlight on the amazing work charities do in their community and across the country, encouraging Canadians to do good and give.

Like many non-profits, our Museum and Heritage Village is faced with decreased grant funding from municipal government, and substantial increases in operating costs.  If you have already given this holiday season, thank you for your support and generosity.  If not, I hope you will consider contributing to our 2024 Annual Giving Campaign this GivingTuesday. All gifts directly support – our programming activities, education offerings, collection and the maintenance and preservation of our heritage buildings.

By now, you are likely aware that Canada Post services have been disrupted nationwide due to the postal strike.  Until a resolution is reached, mail delivery service is being impacted.  We understand that if these delays continue it will take longer to receive donations by mail, or for us to mail your charitable donation receipt. In light of this, I wanted to share how easy it is to make your gift today, and make a lasting difference in our Museum’s ability to share local histories with the community.

·         You can make a donation online anytime through our Canada Helps account https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/fanshawe-pioneer-village/ (which automatically issues tax receipts)

·         Donations can also be made 9am-3:30pm Monday– Friday until December 20th in-person, or over the phone by calling me at 519-457-1296 x 812.

·         Interac e-transfers with direct deposit into the Museum’s bank account using the email director@fanshawepioneervillage.ca is another option as well. (Please include your name and address in the e-transfer note so we can send a charitable tax receipt for your donation.)

Please remember, all donations must be received by the Museum prior to January 1, 2025 to receive a 2024 charitable tax receipt.

With the support of donors like you, our Museum can ensure we continue the important and ongoing task of maintaining more than 30 heritage buildings in the Village, caring for our extensive artifact collection, adding more voices to the story we share, deepening understanding of the past, and bringing history to life through our public and educational programming.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our upcoming special events, or for a visit to the Heritage Village next season.   Thank you for your consideration and patronage of the London & Middlesex Heritage Museum – Fanshawe Pioneer Village.

With appreciation,

Dawn Miskelly – Executive Director
